This guide will help you get Amiga emulator FS-UAE up and running. FS-UAE offers a relatively easy setup process and is more user friendly that WinUAE thanks to it’s well designed GUI. Follow these simple steps to get FS-UAE set up with minimal fuss.
Step 1: Download the Emulator
- Download FS-UAE: Visit the FS-UAE website to download the emulator using the links above. Ensure you download both the emulator and the launcher.
- Create a Folder: Create a specific folder on your hard drive for the Amiga emulator (e.g.,
fsuae
). - Extract Files: Download and extract both the emulator and the launcher into this folder.
Step 2: Obtain Kickstart ROMs
- Kickstart ROMs: The Amiga system uses a BIOS called Kickstart. You’ll need a full range of these ROMs for emulation.
- Legal Purchase: You can legally purchase these ROMs from Amiga Forever. The Plus Edition is recommended as it includes all necessary ROMs and Workbench versions.
- Alternative Sources: If you prefer not to purchase, you can find Kickstart ROMs via a web search or within other emulator packages like RetroPie.
Step 3: Install the Emulator
- Extract Files: Navigate to the folder where you downloaded the zip files and extract them.
- Ensure Correct Folder Structure: Make sure you have a folder named
fsuae
containing all the extracted files and another folder for the launcher within the same directory.
Step 4: Set Up the Emulator
