BSNES Setup Instructions

This step-by-step guide will walk you through setting up BSNES. By following these instructions, you’ll learn how to download, install, and configure BSNES, including setting up video settings, mapping your controller, and optimizing performance.

Step 1: Download BSNES Emulator

  1. Download BSNES via the above links.
  2. Once the download is finished, open your browser’s downloads page, right-click on the downloaded file, and select “Show in folder”.
  3. Drag the downloaded file to your desktop.

Step 2: Extract BSNES Emulator

  1. Right-click on the downloaded BSNES zip file on your desktop and extract the files.

Step 3: Launch BSNES Emulator

  1. Open the extracted BSNES folder.
  2. Double-click the BSNES executable file to launch the emulator.

Step 4: Configure Video Settings

  1. Go to “Settings” in the BSNES menu.
  2. Select “Size” and change the window size up to four times, or click the box in the top right corner to go full screen.
  3. Leave the “Output” setting on “Scale”.
  4. Set the “Filter” to “None”.

Step 5: Enhance Performance Settings

  1. Go to “Enhancements” under “Settings”.
  2. Set “CPU Overclocking” to 200%.
  3. Set “Super Accelerator” to 200%.
  4. Set “Super FX” to 200%.
  5. Change “HD Mode 7” to 1920p for improved visuals.
  6. Decide whether to enable “Super Sampling” based on your system’s performance capabilities.

Step 6: Configure Drivers

  1. Go to “Drivers” under “Settings”.
  2. By default, the driver is set to “OpenGL”. You can also select “Direct3D”.
  3. If using a G-Sync or FreeSync monitor, enable “Adaptive Sync”.

Step 7: Map Your Controller

  1. Go to “Input” in the BSNES menu.
  2. Set the “Device” to “Gamepad” (or “Mouse” if you are using a mouse and keyboard).
  3. Click on each button (e.g., “Up”, “Down”, “Left”, “Right”, “B”, “A”, “Y”, “X”, “L”, “R”, “Select”, “Start”) and press the corresponding button on your controller.
  4. Repeat for any additional controllers by selecting the appropriate controller port.

Step 8: Load a Game

  1. To load a game, go to “System” > “Load Game”.
  2. Navigate to the folder where your Super Nintendo games are stored and select the game you want to play.
  3. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the ROM file directly into the emulator window.
